The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested two siblings for allegedly trafficking 500 blocks of compressed cannabis sativa from Akure into the state.
The siblings, reportedly notorious for illicit trafficking in cannabis sativa, were allegedly transporting their latest haul toward its intended destination in Mubi, northern Adamawa, when they were intercepted by NDLEA operatives in Lamurde, a town in southern Adamawa.
The Commandant of the NDLEA in the state, Aliyu Abubakar, made the disclosure to newsmen at the agency’s state headquarters in Yola. He said the breakthrough occurred last month when a Honda Pilot carrying the 500 blocks of cannabis sativa was intercepted based on an intelligence report.
“A search of the dealers’ premises in Mubi led to the recovery of 40 additional blocks of compressed cannabis sativa,” the Commander of Narcotics revealed.
He added, during a press briefing in which he presented an overview of the state NDLEA operations for September 2025, that the agency made several other arrests and seizures of illicit substances during the month.
According to him, in total, the NDLEA arrested 58 drug suspects—56 men and two women—and seized 366.808 kg of cannabis sativa, 209.8 kg of psychotropic substances, and 11.6 kg of methamphetamine and other drugs.
He noted that his operatives also confiscated four vehicles and a motorcycle used in transporting the illicit substances.
Additionally, in Mijilu village of Mubi North LGA, his men destroyed six hectares of a cannabis farm and arrested five suspects connected to the farm.
